The founder of in-home care company Companion Care was honored on March 12th as a 2015 Woman of Influence by the Albuquerque Business Journal. Janet Schuh was one of over 400 nominees chosen by a panel of judges to be part of  a select group of thirty women honored at the awards banquet attended by 600 of Albuquerque’s “movers and shakers.”

Jan received the only standing ovation of the evening, following a short video where she described several of the challenges she overcame as a polio and cancer survivor as she raised eight children. This “late bloomer” started Companion Care over ten years ago at the age of 69. She attributes much of her business success to “hiring good people” and thanked her care managers, caregivers, and office support staff for their support in providing quality care to their clients.

Accompanying Jan to the stage to accept the award were her daughter (and Companion Care business partner) Paula Schuh and granddaughter Hannah Schuh.
