1.) “ZZzzzzZZZZzzzzzzz”….Do you get enough sleep? If you are 65 or older, you should be getting at least 7-8 hours of restful sleep every night. Take a minute to imagine your body as a working machine capable of lasting you a lifetime if it is properly fueled and kept in working order. What many of us don’t pay attention to, or overlook, in regards to our health is exactly what we pay for in the long run. By replacing that extra cup of coffee with green tea, your wonder bread sandwich with a whole grain choice, or switching out your pudding dessert for a bowl of fresh strawberries, you are giving your body and mind a fighting chance to enrich your life.  The more colorful the food choices the better, as fresh veggies and fruits have been shown to improve heart health and even lower the risk of Alzheimer’s and certain cancers. Heart healthy antioxidants found in Acai berries (and many other berries), teas, and citrus fruits help to keep cells young and maintained. The calcium, magnesium, and potassium found in most rich leafy greens such as spinach are known to fight the risk of osteoporosis and high blood pressure.
